Adverbs of Manner

Adverb: It is a word which adds something to the meaning of a verb, an adjective or another adverb.

For example,

  •         He ran fast.(modifies the verb, ran)
  •         The apple was very sweet. (modifies the adjective, sweet )
  •         He walked rather slowly. (modifies the adverb, slowly).
  • Adverb Of Manner: These adverbs how or in what manner an action is done. Some examples are Slowly, bravely , quickly, hardly, sincerly, carefully ,delightfully etc

    For Example: The boy worked silently.

    Here worked is a verb and silently adverbs of manner.

  • Her act was remarkable.
  • She acted remarkably to achieve success.
  • He returned immediately.
  • He briefly narrated the incident to me.
  • He narrated to me the incident briefly.
  • Seldom does he visit his parents.
  • He seldom visits his parents.
  • Not seldom does he visit his parents.
  • Hardly scarcely had she reached the station when the train arrived.
